Disillusioned with life as a vet, Nick makes an appointment with a careers consultant.

Nick wants to appear chivalrous when his next-door neighbour Mary, whom he fancies, pops round. Kirsten's powers of diplomacy are stretched.

Nick feels forced to replace Briony after she insults him. John seems the perfect candidate and Kirsten is delighted, but Nick has other ideas.

Kirsten gets into a panic about having no real friends and asks Briony to go out for the evening. Nick spies a way to earn money from gullible pet owners.

Kirsten's attempts to liven up the surgery by playing music from the eighties proves unpopular.
